Vetenskap & Allmänhet

Background and challenge

Vetenskap & Allmänhet (VA) is a non-profit association and national expert organisation promoting dialogue and collaboration between research and society. Founded in 2002, it has around 100 member organisations, including public authorities, universities, businesses, science centres and research funders.

VA runs several initiatives, each with its own website and audience. Our brief was to bring them together on a shared platform, where the main website, vetenskapallmanhet.se, and its three sister sites share content, design and technology while retaining their own identities.

Solution

As the web agency we led the project from strategy, SEO analysis and technical analysis through to design and development. We built a WordPress Multisite network with a shared design system for vetenskapallmanhet.se, ForskarFredag and Forskar Grand Prix, and a dedicated theme for Låna en forskare.

On vetenskapallmanhet.se, visitors can filter all content by area of expertise, audience and project, and search the events calendar and a resource library of reports, books and teaching materials. The filters use our own filtering tool.

Cross-publishing means content only needs to be written once: news from ForskarFredag appears in the main website’s feed, VA’s events are displayed on the sister sites, and resources are shared across the websites. All four websites are available in Swedish and English, and we continue to maintain and develop the platform.
