ForskarFredag

Background and challenge

ForskarFredag is Sweden’s most widely celebrated science festival, bringing researchers and the public together with a particular focus on children and young people. Vetenskap & Allmänhet has coordinated the festival nationally since 2006, and it is the Swedish part of European Researchers' Night. All activities are free and organised locally by universities, museums, libraries and municipalities.

The website is one of four on Vetenskap & Allmänhet’s shared platform. It needed to bring together the festival programme from every location and make it easy for schools, visitors, researchers and organisers to find information relevant to them.

Solution

As a web agency we built ForskarFredag’s new website on Vetenskap & Allmänhet’s WordPress Multisite, using the same foundation and design system as the main website while giving the festival its own identity.

The festival programme can be filtered by date, location and activity type, and each location has its own page. Schools, researchers, organisers and the press have dedicated sections, and the website is available in Swedish and English.

News from ForskarFredag also appears in the feed on Vetenskap & Allmänhet’s website, while the festival’s final reports are pulled from the main website’s resource library. Content is written once and appears wherever it is needed. We continue to maintain and develop the website.
